Four people, including two pupils from Kimongo Primary School, have been killed in two separate banditry attacks in Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo counties.
In the first incident, the two learners were ambushed and shot dead on their way home near Soko Bora, close to Tot in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The attackers also stole an unknown number of livestock before fleeing.
The second attack occurred in Dira, Tiaty Constituency, Baringo County where a herder was killed.
Confirming the incident, the Chief Peace Officer in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Lawrence Mutwol, said the recent attacks were retaliatory following recent clashes between suspected Marakwet poachers and Pokot herders in the Kewa Kowow area.
This even as tension remains high with residents fearing further violence.
A multi-agency security team comprising the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), and the General Service Unit (GSU) is hunting down the bandits.
The bodies of the victims have been taken to Tot Hospital morgue.
