Nine people are feared dead while 30 others sustained serious injuries following a road accident involving a Matatu (Faith Safaris) in Machakos County Monday evening.
Confirming the incident Yatta sub-county police commander Jane Makau said eight people died on the spot following the accident that occurred near Katangi market along the Machakos-Kitui Highway.
Victims of the accident were rushed to Machakos Level 5 hospital for treatment.
The driver of the ill-fated vehicle, that was also carrying tens of bags of charcoal, is said to have lost control of the vehicle before landing in a ditch.
